Skylights, mobiles and escalators add to the high-style of shopping. It makes the the experience more interesting, which by extension makes the merchandise more stylish. Shopping becomes entertainment itself.
You mean you actually go shopping! :) The first image looks as if there are meteorites flying around the heavens and along with the shadows, makes for an interesting arrangement of shapes, lines and blobs.
