Not all windmills make electricity. This one is of a slightly older style. It was used for pumping water (I think) but, in this case, I imagine it is more for show... a quaint reminder of days gone by.
Many of the windmills like the one above do function for electricity. There are old school farmers (Mennonites are an example) and new school farmers that take advantage of the energy created by mother nature. You will find windmills at a couple of wineries throughout the area. There is also a company in the area that sells windmills for residential use.
