Brings back memories

This is not the most interesting photo I have posted, but chancing by this little building brought back memories for me. The curious brink/tile is the same material that my grandfathers home was constructed with. It was a small but comfortable house with the brick painted over in a cream color. I have not seen it in decades but it is still fresh in my mind having spent much time in and around the house.

Curiosity

Obviously it is some type of crane, but why is there a wheel on the end of the boom? I am sure there is a good reason but it is difficult to see what function this would perform.

At least the blue and red make for an nice picture.

St. Augustine

My last few posts have been from my recent trip to Florida. We are considering relocating to the Sunshine State, although it seems unimaginative: retire... move to Florida. We did have some wonderful weather before returning to the cold and gray upstate New York. Nothing is definite, so only time will tell.

Saint Augustine is a beautiful town with lots of history and interesting architecture.

Golf Course Tree

I am not a golfer but I do like to walk. This roadway transversed the golf course and allowed me a view of the fairway during an early morning walk.

Fake shutters

A pet peeve of mine is fake shutters which you commonly see on homes everywhere. They are supposed to be decorative, which I understand, but something bothers me about the vestige quality of these non-functional add-ons.

But having fake shutters showing up on an industrial building like this is really quite funny.

At least it adds some color to otherwise bland architecture.

Unsettled weather

Springtime means frequent showers and wildly fluctuating temperatures. It often seems like two steps forward, one step back. We have had 80 degree weather, but this morning it was 39 and rain.
