I photographed this bird at the Jacksonville Arboretum but have been unable to identify. The bird was part of a pair that was building a nest. It was difficult to get a clean shot because in the dense clutter of the tree. Anyone able to identify this bird?
Hi John, this could be a Yellow-Crowned Night Heron. But then I might be wrong. It is a beautiful photo of this bird in any case.
ReplyDeleteThanks TFG... I think you may be right. Looking up the bird by that name seems to be consistent with location and habitat... and certainly the colors and markings look right.
