Looking like Miami

...although this was shot in northern Florida, at Jacksonville Beach.

Perspective

It seems all airport terminal interiors look pretty much the same. When you look at this photo you don't know if you are in Buffalo or Beijing... you could in fact be anywhere in the world. But those long hallways and moving sidewalks do provide some impressive perspective.

Colorful caps

I found this basket on top of the bottle recycle barrel... never thought about how colorful these throw-aways are.

Santana

A nice evening listening to the latin inspired rock of Santana at CMAC (Constellation Brands Marvin Sands Performing Arts Center) in Canandaigua, NY. Lots of people were using the digital zoom on their phones to try for a close-up of the guitar virtuoso, but I chose to capture the setting and the peek at the setting sun.

Crossing

It seems that whenever you see the horizon in Pennsylvania, you see hills or mountains. Not a lot of flat land in the interior of the state.

Fallingwater

I have always had an interest in architecture, and when you talk about American architecture you need to talk about Frank Lloyd Wright, and when you talk about Wright, you have to talk about Fallingwater, the home he designed and built for the Kaufmann family in rural Pennsylvania. I have long wanted to see it myself and finally had the opportunity this week. As expected, it is a spectacular home in in a spectacular setting.

Although the house is a collection of dozens of interesting visual details and design elements, it is almost exclusively identified by one view... across Bear Creek below the falls. It was my desire to find a unique way to photograph the structure, but in the end the familiar viewpoint is needed to complete the visual experience.

Walking on rock

I read someplace that the rock that makes up the Adirondack mountains is nearly indistinguishable from rock samples brought back from the moon... so this is almost like a moon walk, but not the Michael Jackson kind.
