Of course I should have shot this as a video or loop, but the tall columns are giant led panels. Not sure how they can make them this big and seamless but they are bright and look great.
A company in my home town, Daktronics, builds LED display boards like this. They have a flight information board and time tower in LAX, and other airports around the country. I have no idea if they built the ones in Newark.
Interesting panels. I grew up close to Newark Airport and remember it well from long before they expanded it with new terminals. A cheap source of family entertainment was to load everyone into the family station wagon on a Sunday afternoon and park close to the airport to watch the planes land and take off. You can't do that anymore.
That's about the prettiest thing I've ever seen in Newark! And evidently not the American part of the terminal!

ReplyDeleteIt wouldn't surprise me if an entire wall in a new house will be a display panel. Looks like the technology is already there.
