National cathedral

A relatively modern, new world take on the gothic cathedral, completed only in the last few decades and located in north-west Washington DC.  It was damaged last year in the earthquake that struck Virginia and the DC area, so stone masons are again working on the structure.  It is impressive.

One really impressive attribute I was unable to witness... the Darth Vader grotesque (not to be confused with a gargoyle) which is in fact real and can be found near the top of the northwest tower if you have good binoculars.
