ECU

That's Extreme Close-Up if you don't happen to know.

Roger Cicala of LensRentals fame writes an informative and entertaining blog which I follow. He has a fun contest going on right now that I decided to enter with a version of the above photo (ECU of a cactus... the image area is only about an inch across). There are a number of categories which you can check out for yourself with this link.

The category I entered was "Largest Number of Accessories Between the Lens and the Camera" and the photo below shows my set-up.
And here is the recipe incase you want to try it too.

Olympus OMD EM-5, MFT to EOS adapter, Canon extension tube, Tamaron 1.4X telextender, LensBaby Composer, Lensbaby wide-angle adapter, Lensbaby macro close-up lens, and a bubble level on top (although not between the camera and lens, it is a bonus).

  1. Thank you for the behind the scenes look at your excellent photo. Surprised that light could travel through all those accessories and still reach the camera.

  2. A very interesting setup, John. What got my attention, though, was the OMD EM1 you're using. I'm very seriously considering selling all of my Canon gear and switching to the Oly cameras (I already have the EM5 and some lenses). So I was wondering what you think of the EM1. How long have you had it? Do you think it's as good in terms of image quality as a bigger DSLR?

    1. Opps! Wishful thinking perhaps? I have edited the post and changed that "1" to a "5". Paul, can't help you with EM1 thoughts as I have only read about it, like I assume you have.

  3. Pretty neat photo, John. i would surely lose this contest as I don't have very many accessories. I am interested in the Lensbaby system though.

    1. The Lensbaby is fun but really a gimmick. Have not used it much.
