Today is my last day. I have been employed for over 50 years (including summer and part-time work while in school).
I guess it is time to quit.
Retirement is going to be a big adjustment for me, as I guess it is for most. I have never taken employment for granted. That paycheck was always received with gratitude and as a measure of my value. Now I will need to pay myself.
But it is on to a new chapter, with more time for personal projects and finding opportunities to help others.
PS: I leave it to TFG to tell us about the pictured object.
Congratulations on a fine career. 50 years is a long time to be doing anything. Enjoy your retirement, and please keep finding the time to take photos and post them here.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes in the journey to follow!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I highly recommend retirement!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your retirement. You will find many things to keep you busy. The important thig is to keep busy.
ReplyDeleteAll the best John. I hope you'll share your thoughts on your "adjustment". I'd be interested in reading about it seeing as I may not be far behind you.
ReplyDeleteWarmest good wishes for your retirement, John. The day I retired (eight years ago) was the day I got my life back. It felt that it had been on hold - relegated to second or third place by the demands of a career. Suddenly I had time available seven days a week.and that made such a difference. Enjoy your retirement - I'm sure you will.
ReplyDeleteJohn, how appropriate that title, "Changing Gears"! Best wishes.
ReplyDeleteI changed gears too, upon retiring and I've never been so busy.
Sincerest regards, JR
wish you be happy!
