Old state capitol

The Louisiana state capitol is in Baton Rouge. This is a view of the "old" Louisiana state capitol and its  spectacular central stairway. As you can see it is an almost unbelievable riot of color and decoration. Really something to behold.

And this is the "new" state capitol... which is nearly 100 years old, so not really all that new is it? Its claim to  fame is that the building is the tallest of the 50 state capitol buildings. It is currently being renovated, so the scaffolding, and the porta potties.

  1. Fantastic photo looking up the staircase in the Capitol building. It's only 94 years old, and Huey P. Long in 1932 made sure the building was a few feet taller than the Nebraska State Capitol building, another wonderful Art Deco building.
