Italian Baroque Organ

An impressive historic tracker action organ that was restored and recently insalled at the Memorial Art Gallery. It is a beautiful story of reclamation and also a beautiful sounding instrument. It is demoed and played regularly by facility and students of the Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester.

Stone schoolhouse

This old schoolhouse was built in the mid-1800's but today it has been restored and tastefully enlarged to serve as a neighborhood bank office. I like to see history preserved this way while retaining the value of a solidly built and historic structure.

Building bridge

I have always been fascinated by this bridge that connects two buildings of the Eastman School of Music. It spans an alley, not a street and seems more ornate than really necessary. Also it is constructed and connects at a strange angle. The more modern lower bridge (partially shown) is much less interesting and conventional in it's geometry.

Yes, I went to Princeton...

...for the weekend. Walked around the campus for a few hours. Very impressive. Visited my sister and her family, including her daughter, my niece, who will be graduating in a few weeks. From Princeton. Unlike me. I just walked around.

College town

Rochester has two fairly large private universities; the University of Rochester and Rochester Institute of Technology... both are alma maters of mine. The University of Rochester is the largest employer in the area when you count the the medical center and Eastman School of Music. Then there is Monroe Community College, St. John Fisher and pictured above, Nazareth College. Also there are the two SUNY schools close by; Brockport and Geneseo. Not to mention Bryant & Stratton, a for profit college, and a former customer of mine.

Education is big business, but it also adds a lot to the community, for which I am thankful.
