Three palms

Strange sky and light this evening while cruising on Zambezi river.

Drop shadow

I like the way the tree throws a shadow on the wall in the late day sun. It also represents my last post from Italy. It was a great trip and one I will always remember. I took 800 photos, of which many were just personal snapshots, but also found many that were, IMO, interesting enough to post.

My drive home

The days are once again getting longer so there is still some light for my drive home after work. We got a real pile of snow recently, setting a new record for snow in a February day... 18.3 inches, but today the sky was clear and blue.

Yes, he's back... the Colonel

Colonel Sanders is back, pitching his buckets of chicken. I've seen him on TV.

Pretty good for a man who died in 1980.

And he really was a colonel, a Kentucky Colonel, officially given the honorary title by the governor of Kentucky.

The man survives even if his company name has changed... Kentucky Fried Chicken just does not sound healthy these days, but KFC does not seem to have the same stigma.

Bummer of a sign

We had two very good meals in this lively little restaurant, so it is a little ironic that the Do Not Enter sign is so prevalent at the front door.

Hold out

We are at the end of January and I've seen discarded Christmas trees on the curb for weeks. Most people have put away their holiday decorations and lights, but there are hold outs. The days are getting longer but still I like the little extra light and appreciate any extra brightness that can be mustered.

Walk to my car

The good news is the worst is behind me. The new year brought me a cold that has taken almost two weeks to shake. Consequently I have not been very motivated to take photos or to post to my blog... or even to notice the everyday beauty around me.

But as of today things are looking up.

Hope you have a happy, healthy, and productive 2015.

More light please

I am no fan of long dark winters. Fortunately even though we are only four or five weeks into winter, the days are starting to get longer. The photo above illustrates that when I now leave, work there is a hint of light in the sky... something I am grateful for.

Strange light

Dark overhead sky, but strong western backlight, makes me want to capture pictures.
