Canal ducks

I guess no one told the ducks.

The canal has been closed to traffic for the season, but the ducks did not get the notice (they are the little dots in the water... click for a bigger picture... still pretty small).

Of course, even with the canal drained, there is still enough water for a duck... so I guess they really don't care.

  1. It doesn't take much water for a duck.

  3. I had a surreal experience with a duck the other night. I was cycling home along a dark country lane, the wind was driving fresh snow across my path and suddenly a large white duck skimmed over my head and landed on the tarmac in front of me. I had to stop and push it onto the verge with my foot - it just didn't want to move and kept quacking at me! In all the many thousands of miles I've cycled, that's never happened before!

    1. Quite a story. If it happens again you will know to duck the duck!

  4. I have a small collection of wooden and brass ducks around the house but they are forbidden to go to the canal, especially in the winter.
