Bridge trusses

Sometimes, at certain angles, some common things, look awfully complicated.

Snow amoeba

I was struck by the patten on the sidewalk. It appears a grain of road salt is in the center of each "amoeba" which perhaps melted some of the snow making the surrounding snow stick while the snow outside the salt melt was able to be blown in the wind.

Well, that is my theory.

Blank space

It happens once in a while... I let too many days go by without a new picture.

Not sure why that is. I really do not have an excuse as I generally always have a camera with me. Just blanking out I guess.

Over the last few days there has been renewed discussion about OC/OL/OY (one camera, one lens, one year), a neat idea and great exercise, but I have not posted in 10 days!

Trees and wires

I have not posted much in the way of autumn colors this year. I guess I have had other things to photograph recently, which is nice. But here is a view of orange and yellow, both in the trees and on the ground. And then there are the various utility lines too. But that's the way it is in village and towns.

Tree-iffic late summer day

I can feel autumn coming, but we still have some sunny summer yet to go, even if the daytime temperature is cooler. The sky is blue, the clouds are white, and the leaves are still green.

Around back

Funny how different most nice looking commercial buildings look from the rear.

Out of site, out of mind.

Shot on iPhone

Not the first image from my iPhone that I have posted, but I could not think of another title for the picture... and it is in keeping with one of the current Apple advertising themes.

X ? X

I really do not know what these markings mean. It is a bit of a mystery. They are doing some work in the parking lot and have indicated where patches are to be made with X marks, but this is the only question mark. And the only two tone marks.

Quick fix?

It's no secret the nations infrastructure needs some help. Here in New York State we hear about the many bridges that are potentially unsafe.

Maybe this is what they are talking about?

This bridge is over the canal leading into Pittsford on a main road. Every evening when I leave work I see are lots of cars and trucks sitting on it, held up, trying to make their way to the East suburbs.

So we see here some fixes have been made. The steel reinforcement looks moderately stable, but how about those wooden timbers apparently wedged into place? Perhaps these are only temporary, but still it gives me pause.

These geese can't read

On second thought, maybe they are the ones that posted the sign.

In which case, I hope their team wins.

Walk to my car

The good news is the worst is behind me. The new year brought me a cold that has taken almost two weeks to shake. Consequently I have not been very motivated to take photos or to post to my blog... or even to notice the everyday beauty around me.

But as of today things are looking up.

Hope you have a happy, healthy, and productive 2015.
