Picture window
This is my last post from the Burchfield Penney, at least for this visit.
I am embarrassed to say I am not sure of the artist but I think it is the same as the last post: Jesse Walp. Again, a very interesting sculpture and well crafted.
It is interesting that the art piece is shown in front of a window... a window that almost looks like a piece of art... like a painting. But it is in fact a window to the outside that frames the more well known and long established art gallery across the street... the Albright-Knox Art Gallery.
Kind of a two for one.

Shape and shadow
Another exhibit at the Burchfield Penney Art Center was the work of Jesse Walp. I admire both his sculptural work and the amazing craftsmanship.

Janelle Lynch at the Burchfield Penney Art Center
Janelle Lynch photographs with an 8 x 10 view camera, which seems astonishing in this day and age. The equally large "pigment prints" (which I assume means ink-jet with pigment rather than dyes) are very nice but somehow do not seem to deliver the quality boost that would be expected with such a large format.
The Burchfield facility is quite new and a very nice gallery. I enjoyed my visit and the range of exhibits on display. I plan to return and urge others to do the same and offer support to this regional art resource.

Trunkless tree
I don't often convert to monochrome, but this image was sooo verdant green and monochromatic already that some kind of special treatment seemed needed. Adding a bit of green tint into the black & white created a look that I rather like.

Air show
It is pretty difficult to capture a great photo at an air show. With a long lens it is hard to frame, especially when the subject is moving up to 1000 mph. So I settled for a wide view of the USAF Thunderbirds flying their F-16Cs on this gray overcast day.
