Corn flower

Of course this is not really a cornflower... but it is a sunflower that has somehow invaded a corn field.

In fact last season this was a sunflower field, and apparently this one plant has self-seeded itself.

Who needs conformity?

This picture really does not qualify as "trivial" or "unnoticed" but I do not think many people would give this scene more than a passing appreciative glance. They would not stop for a closer look. They may or may not bother to take a picture.

So pardon my picture for being unremarkable... I just like the sunny scene.

For sale

Took me a while to figure out this was a Ferguson tractor... logotype looks more like "FerSuson". But then I am not in the market for farm equipment so I guess it really doesn't matter.

Piles

I have no idea why these piles have been added to this farm field but there must be a good reason.

First snow

At least the first snow cover this season in 2014. It is still a bit too warm for it to stay for long, but there is more on the way... up to six inches over the next 24 hours.

The first few snowfalls are kind of nice, seeing the autumn mix with the winter, but after a month or so it gets pretty old. But that is life in western New York, so we make the best of it.

Calendar picture

Hard to resist. Field of corn, red barn, blue sky with puffy clouds. Not exactly a unique picture, but a pretty one I think.

It is a scene that many would find attractive, but few would stop to take the photo. Except someone capturing calendar pictures.

We have had a week of rain and gloom. Today was glorious (the picture was made yesterday) and they say more rain tomorrow.

At least it keeps things green.

Well, after driving past this field on my way to work for the last week I finally took the time to stop for a closer look.

Farm crops

The scarcity of rain has had a adverse impact on many farms unless rigorous irrigation is applied. It seems that farming is very much a risky business.

Can't say too much about this corn crop.

Farm house

A typical old farm house that was customarily found in the northeast.  These were build when large family farms were common, and large families were needed to keep the farm going.
