BMX Park

BMX (bicycle motocross) are those little bikes that are used for competitive racing or showing-off fancy jumps and stunts. This park was build in Toronto for a major competition and is now open to the public.

New York State Fair

The state fair marks the end of the summer season. The weather is still warm, and the fair crowd is having a good time taking in the animals, the exhibits, the music, the arcade games, the midway, and of course the carnival food.

Trite and ordinary

My blog focus is supposed to be "observations of the trivial and unnoticed", but sometimes I drift into "obvious and too often noticed" territory. This post represents two trite and ordinary photos, although pleasant and pretty good quality.

The water lily is interesting in that it was photographed with my little waterproof camera while floating by in a kayak.

And the sunset is perhaps a good representation of the end of the photo series from this year's visit to the Adirondacks.

More light please

I am no fan of long dark winters. Fortunately even though we are only four or five weeks into winter, the days are starting to get longer. The photo above illustrates that when I now leave, work there is a hint of light in the sky... something I am grateful for.

That sky

I have to say I am a sucker for color streaked skies. As far as I am concerned they are not only great backdrops, but interesting on their own.

But maybe it is just me.

Hegedorn's sunset

Yes, another sunset.  But this one is different.

A year ago I would have not shot this with all the "real" in the foreground. Sure, foreground really helps a landscape, but many consider this type of foreground not desirable or beautiful.

Yet there is a quality of being there, and enjoying the colors, along with the real world I live in.

And Hegedorn's is a Webster institution... one of the last independent grocery stores that seems to still be doing OK in 2012.
