Stormy weater

Just like much of the country, we have had some active weather over the last few weeks. Clouds and rain every afternoon after sun and blue skies in the morning.

Storm brewing over the ocean

And rain on the horizon as the seemingly tiny watercraft heads for mooring.

Bored @ home

So this social isolation has resulted in me taking pictures of the patio plants... it is something to do.

Orange mulch

Not sure why anyone would pick bright orange for mulch around trees. I does not look natural to me. How do they achive that color? It especially contrasts with the bright wet spring green grass.

Unsettled weather

Springtime means frequent showers and wildly fluctuating temperatures. It often seems like two steps forward, one step back. We have had 80 degree weather, but this morning it was 39 and rain.

Pink umbrella

A little rain is to be expected, but the hope is it will not last too long or dampen the spirit.

International spectacle

All my life I have lived within 65 miles or so of Niagara Fall and have visited there dozens of times since I was little. However, over the last 10 or 20 years... not so much. I had occasion to again visit over the weekend and was surprised how much things have changed. No, the falls still look about the same, but what was different was the crowd that was doing the looking... I heard almost no English and I think the majority of tourists were oriental. Even the rain did not dissuade them.

Which I guess explains why there were so many Indian and Pakistani restaurants within walking distance... of course in addition to the obligatory Hard Rock Cafe.

On the dusky scene below, feel free to click for a larger version.

Shades of green

Shooting in the rain while holding an umbrella is quite a juggling act, but the saturated colors are worth it.

Dog walker

A gloomy morning on the canal path. The unusual mist rising over the waterway is a result of a wide temperature swing: 87° F one day, and only 42° F with light rain the next.

Rainy season

Of course after rainy season comes snowy season. The wet and cold weather does present photo ops but I am usually not so adventurous to explore for pictures unless there is some comfort involved. If I am on the way to work in my car, then I am reasonably comfortable, but there are not many unique photo taking options.

High water... again

Ellison Park is again flooded. We have had a wet July, and yesterday was a rainfall record maker, yet the weekends have been pleasant.

Rain drops keep fallin' on my head

The rain continues with the expected swelling of creeks and rivers.

On the positive side, there is that sudden spring green livening up the lawns. Can the crocuses and daffodils be far behind?
